| Back from Orlando ICES Cake Convention |
Made it back from the Cake Convention and yes, I
am in "cake Overload". I took some great
classes. My favorite (as usual) was "Henna
Scrolls" with Norman Davis. He was also chosen
as this year's ICES Hall of Famer--a much
deserving honor. I also took a class on a
standing Golf Bag cake...can't wait to make one
of these.
Other cake-lebrities that I met were Mike McCarey-
-he is the best cake sculptor, Bronwen Weber,
Kerry Vincent, and Nicholas Lodge.
Kerry Vincent presented a class on romantic
wedding cakes. Bronwen has developed some new
cake stands. Nicholas Lodge gives the best class
on making gum paste flowers. And Mike--well,
what can I say about this AWESOME cake sculptor.
Now Longview, it's back to bakin' and cakin'.

| ICES Convention |
Thank you Longview for the support you have given
Cakes By Design since we have expanded to a
bigger kitchen. We will be closed July 16th thru
July 20th to attend the ICES convention in
Florida. We will be learning new cake techniques
to bring back to Longview. Check back for more
stunning cakes. One class that I am taking is
the 3D Golf Bag cake with golf clubs. OH WOW--my
head is spinning already. Thank you again.

| Meeting with Dorian's Wooden Blooms |
I will be meeting with Hilda of Dorian's Wooden
Blooms on Friday to see some of her cake
toppers. Hopefully I will have some pics to post
for you.

| 2008 ICES Convention |
The 2008 ICES Convention is in Orlando, Florida
this year. I was lucky enough to get registered
for 2 classes with Norman Davis, 1 with Kerry
Vincent, 1 with Zane Beg and 1 with Nicholas
Lodge. Those wonderful Food Network Cake
people. Tne convention is July 16th thru July
20th. I am going with my cake buddy, Tina, from
Shreveport and meeting up with 2 other cakers
from www.cakecentral.com. Look out Florida!
